ABOUT ME

• My name is Maria Hartman and I founded Travenda to freelance as a translator and editor.
• My language combination as a translator is English into Swedish.
• Swedish is my native language and I live in Sweden.
• I have a Bachelor of Arts in Translation Studies since August, 2024. For my bachelor’s thesis, I translated 30 pages of an epic poem and wrote a commentary.
• Currently, I’m studying towards a master’s degree in translation theory at Stockholm University.

MY EXPERIENCE

• I’ve done post-editing and revision tasks at Unbabel since 2018, especially in e-commerce, customer service communication, product information and fashion, and I have the title Senior Editor there.
• I also volunteer at Translators without Borders, who translate texts in humanitarian aid among other subject areas.
• So far, I’ve completed two tasks as editor of a novel and a poetry collection, and I’ve proofread a young adult novel.
• I recently began doing tasks for a large American company in subtitling.
• In non-literary translation, I have previously worked in programs such as memoQ, SDL Trados Studio, Phrase, Translation Workspace, Xbench and OmegaT.
• I have some knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
